Greeneway
posted at 3:23 PM

The Greeneway was featured in the Augusta Chronicle recently. Coincidentally, Brooke and I went there last night to walk.

We parked at Martintown Road, just like we did last week when we biked. While I was waiting for Brooke to get there, I took some pictures.

It got dark pretty quickly. As night fell, the setting sun cast beautiful light over the fallen leaves. It was difficult to get a good picture because my camera's shutter tends to stay open awhile in low light, and since I'm not as stable as a tripod, this causes blurriness. This is the best shot I got:

It was a good walk. It was totally dark by the time we got back to our cars.

A couple of tricks for you. Your shoulder is more stable than your hands, so I sometimes line up my shot, then prop my camera on my shoulder to take it. Only really works in program mode, though.

Sometimes, I'll steady myself against a tree, bench, etc.

And lastly, they make AWESOME telescoping monopds that are tiny enough to fit nicely in almost any camera bag.

Yeah, I typically go into a lower stance and then prop the camera on my chest. That way I can still see if it's framed correctly while I take the picture. And leaning it on trees and other nearby items definitely helps, when those are available.

That monopod thing sounds like a good idea...

That picture with the leaves is awesome! It makes me want to dive in :D

Thanks!
